Financial Aid is given to students whose families demonstrate a need for help with paying for college. I think it is beneficial to at least try and apply for financial aid at https://fafsa.ed.gov/ by filling out a FAFSA. In some cases you might not qualify but it is worth a try and doesn't hurt.
